Ken’s Tips On Your Pics: Look for the crop
The composition in this picture is very strong with the contrast between the close up of Callan in the grass and the rolling, heather covered hills in the distance. If I were being very critical I would say that the buildings don’t really add anything to the photo and I find them a bit of a distraction from the main subject, Callan. Here is the shot with them taken out, which I find a bit more pleasing.
You could also have created a striking image by going in really close and having Callan framed by the grass. It all comes down to preference and what you are trying to show in the picture. The original image gives a good sense of place where the close crop is more about Callan
